Do Pets Go to Heaven?

Colorful Flag United Pets of America

As I stated last month, this is rather new; however, I do enjoy learning, and boy, there is so much to learn of the online business- blogging included.

I also stated last month why I have started a website/blog. To summarize a bit, my husband and his friend had a brilliant idea to start a union book for pets. I am not sure why they thought of a union book for pets, (I’ll ask him and let you know next blog), but they created the book about 45 years ago. They also had a Christmas card with the same characters. They took the book and card to Kmart (remember Kmart), and the Kmart merchandise associate wanted more pages in the book. The two young men wrote more, had it published, but they got busy with life and raising a family, and sadly, they never took it back to Kmart.

Last year, I revised the book a bit, not much because they have the copyright, but enough to be updated. My printer technician said the book was the funniest thing she has ever read. Another printer house manager chuckled as she read through the whole book. It is super cute and funny—we all enjoy something lighthearted. We all need to laugh or maybe even just chuckle.

I have expanded the quantity of the cards. We have the same characters in the cards—wouldn’t be the same without the United Pets of America, the Voice of the Pet, characters, and I made sure I had the same quality-just tried to hit some topics that pet owners feel.

One topic I had for cards is a sympathy card. We all know how hard losing a pet is. We have lost pets to old age and have died at home, others were hit in the road, (the one and only time our cat and dog were outside without us), others we had to euthanize. Euthanizing a pet is one of the hardest decisions. One of our dogs, Sport, could hardly breath and would have breathing attacks. The veterinarian said his lungs were shot, and there was nothing she could do. When we decided to take Sport back to her to be euthanized, my three sons wanted to take him. When the veterinarian placed the needle in Sport’s vein, my oldest son puked his guts out—like I said, it’s awful.

Do pets go to heaven when they pass? I’ve read many commentators who say yes, pets do go to heaven. After all, God did create all of the animal according to their kinds, and He saw that is was good. I don’t know, but I can’t imaging a place without animals. Of course, I can’t imaging heaven either.

On a brighter note, our pets have brought my family so much joy. Yes, they are a lot of work and can be expensive, and our hearts break when they pass, but when our rescue dog, Bearsey, follows us everywhere, we enjoy his company. When he is not in the room, we worry. He’s usually on our deck or porch drinking in the sunshine on these cooler days, but we still seek to find him. Our pets really do become “One of the Fam.”
